Harvest time:

Order your tea when it's fresh. Green tea, white tea, black tea and yellow tea re picked in spring, when you order in April/May you'll have the fresh tea. We'll write down in the details in which year and at what time the tea was harvested. Light oolongs and Dancong oolongs will be available at the start of May and Wuyi Oolongs around July. If you buy Puehr tea, then buy aged puerh teas or fresh puerh with suitable for drinking directly. 


If you're not familiar with natural teas, then we suggest you to order a number of varieties first. However, when you have some favorites, then we suggest you to buy the amount for a whole year. If you're not a very heavy tea drinker, then around 250gram of tea of 2 or 3 teas will be enough for a whole year. If you order for at least 100usd, we can ship by express, which will be fast. Fresh tea is the best, therefore we recommend to order at least 100usd per time. 


When you make a purchase on Teazaar, the tea will be shipped from the tea farm. Most of the tea shipments will go through our Xiamen or Hong Kong office, but big shipments will go directly to you. Wherever you are in the world. 

Our shipping costs are 20usd (or equivalent in other currencies) per order. All flat rate. All products are shipped from tea growers in Asia, therefore we suggest you buy a number of teas or a slightly bigger volume per time. 

Shipments can be traced and take between 5 to 15 days till they arrive. We will send you an invoice and the price will also be written on the package. If your country requires import fees or other taxes, then you're responsible for this.

Fenghuang Tea Farm

This tea farm is located in the north of Guangdong Province, nearby the Fujian border. The area is called Fenghuang and is famous for the single bush oolong teas known as Dancong. The leaves from every single tree are harvested just once per year and then processed by hand. The different names of the Dancong tea are all related to the variety of the tea tree. Names like Baxian, Milan, Yinhua, Dongfanghong and many more, are the names of the tea tree. Some of these tea trees are hundreds of years old, and some have just only been planted. When you buy a Dancong tea, it is important to know if the tea is a high mountain, middle mountain or low mountain Dancong. Verifying the age of the tea tree is as equally important. On Teazaar, we need to confirm if the tea plantation is completely chemical free and part of a biodiverse environment. This Dancong tea farm is located on top of the Fengniao Mountain (the only high mountain in Dancong teas). The oldest trees are well over hundreds of years old while the youngest, around 40 years old. The altitude is 1200 meters with annual rainfall around 1700mm and an average temperature of 21.6°C, with frost in the winter. The main tree type of the surrounding forest is pine tree, with some broadleaf trees.

Tea Master Wen

Tea master Wen is the eldest of four generations. Both his son and two grandsons are tea masters too. The youngest is 2 years old, and will be a tea master once old enough. Only grandfather Wen is allowed to touch the leaves from the best trees as he alone processes them by himself. These are all processed in his little house on the tea mountain. Without revealing his secret, he processes the leaves by: sun drying, withering, oxidizing, rolling and finally roasting as the last step. The amount of time needed per step depends on the quality of the leaves, the time of picking, the amount of sunshine, the humidity and so many more other factors. This is the reason why only the most experienced of tea masters, like grandpa Wen, are able to produce the best quality Dancong teas.

Baxian Dancong Tea

The Baxian (Eight Immortals) tea is one of the ten famous aromatic types of Fenghuang Dancong tea. This variety however is not quite a famous one as not many merchants offer this tea. It is however considered one of the best Dancong Oolongs there is. Moreover, even people unfamiliar with good quality tea are amazed by the natural flavours and fragrances of this tea. They often cannot believe that this tea is processed and prepared without a single additive. Amazing fragrance and flavor - all sweet, nutty and fruity notes. After trying this tea, you will have trouble tasting average oolong teas. You have been warned.. Picked from 50 year old Baxian trees, from the high mountain old tea tree forest, processed by grandfather Wen.

Steeping Instructions

All Dancong teas are best enjoyed with a small Gaiwan and three small tea cups, following local tradition. The three small cups form together the Chinese character Pin 品, representing the word 'taste'. The great fragrance and flavour of the Dancong teas are held inside the small Gaiwan and only released when you open the lid. As with other oolong teas, you will have to use boiling hot water and you can keep steeping for over 20 times. You will enjoy this tea best when first pre-heating the gaiwan with some hot water. Then pour around 5 grams tea leaves in the warm gaiwan and enjoy the fragrance of the tea as it awakens. Then you close the gaiwan, shake the leaves gently and the enjoy the fragrance once more. Quickly rinse the leaves with boiling hot water and pre-heat the cups and then smell the lid of the gaiwan. Then fill the gaiwan with boiling hot water and wait 5 to 10 seconds and pour the tea in the three cups. Drink the small cup in three sips and then smell the bottom of your cup to enjoy the fragrance once more. We suggest to use porcelain tea ware to enjoy this kungfu experience fully.
